Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo has led a meeting of the Tanzanian Government Delegation that arrived in Havana, Cuba for the preparation of the national visit of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in the country which is expected to take place from 6 to 8 November, 2024.
The preparation session held on November 2, 2024 is a continuation of the preparations for the visit that began with the inspection of the areas that will be involved during the visit including: Preparations for the venue for the International Kiswahili Conference, and Heroes Park, which were inspected by the Minister Kombo and his message immediately after arriving in Havana on November 1, 2024.
The visit, along with other issues, will focus more on bilateral cooperation and global challenges that require joint solutions for the benefit of all parties. Also, it aims to enable Tanzania and Cuba to continue to develop their historical and diplomatic relations as strategic by opening new areas of cooperation with economic and social interests.

In that context, Tanzania has decided to promote its cooperation with Cuba, for example in the areas of health, education, art, sports, tourism, Kiswahili language and attract investment especially in the area of the blue economy.
While in the country, Hon. President Samia is expected to hold talks with his host Hon. Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic of Cuba on November 7, 2024.
In addition, he will have the opportunity to lay a wreath at the José Martí Memorial as a sign of honoring the hero of the Cuban nation and unveil the statue of Hayati, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere in the special area of African Heroes and Founders of Nations in the city of Havana.
In addition, Mr. President Dr. Samia and Mr. President Dr. Bermúdez will witness the signing of the joint memories of the visit, the Document of Agreement between the Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Cuba (CDC).
On November 8, 2024, President Samia will be the official guest and open the International Kiswahili Conference and later the leaders will officially open the Spanish and Kiswahili Dictionary and a book of daily Spanish and Kiswahili words and phrases prepared in collaboration between the University of Dar es Salaam and the University of Havana as part of the success of the cooperation agreement signed between those institutions in September, 2023.
The conference is part of the efforts made by the Tanzanian Embassy in Cuba to promote Tanzanian culture and the Kiswahili language in the country, the Caribbean and South America.
