Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, urged women to take advantage of various economic empowerment funds available for boosting their income.
He emphasized that these funds are crucial for enhancing the socio-economic welfare of women across the country.Dr. Biteko made these remarks on September 14, 2024, while representing Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa at the Seventh Exhibition of Empowerment Funds and Programs held in Singida Region. The event showcased the efforts being made by both government and private institutions in empowering citizens, particularly women, through financial inclusion initiatives.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of women engaging with these funds, especially through borrowing for business ventures, as a pathway to economic independence. “The government has established these empowerment programs specifically to elevate the financial status of our citizens. Women, in particular, should not shy away from utilizing these opportunities to transform their lives and contribute to the nation’s economy,” Biteko stated.
He further commended the various programs under the government’s initiative, which aim to foster self-reliance by providing access to loans with flexible repayment conditions. These funds are designed to support micro, small, and medium enterprises, enabling women to start or expand their businesses, thereby improving their livelihoods.
During the exhibition, representatives from different empowerment programs outlined the criteria for accessing these loans and shared success stories of women who have benefited from the initiative.

Many of the showcased programs focus on empowering rural women, recognizing that they are often at a disadvantage when it comes to financial resources and business opportunities.

He concluded by reiterating the government’s dedication to women’s empowerment, stating that through these funds, women can break the cycle of poverty and contribute significantly to Tanzania’s growing economy.
