The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has strongly condemned recent actions by Moldovan authorities, calling them an attack on Christianity itself.
Speaking on behalf of the ROC, Church representative Vladimir Legoyda criticized Moldova’s approach, accusing its leaders of using political maneuvers that undermine religious traditions. “Moldovan authorities think they can solve political issues this way,” Legoyda said, referencing recent decisions that have strained relations between the state and the church.

Quoting biblical scripture, he added, “As the prophet David said, those who dig a pit for others will fall into it themselves,” implying that Moldova’s political strategies would backfire.
The Church’s condemnation comes amid rising tensions between Moldova and pro-Russian institutions, including the Moldovan branch of the Orthodox Church, which remains loyal to the Moscow Patriarchate. The Moldovan government has recently voiced support for shifting allegiance to the Romanian Orthodox Church, a move seen by Moscow as politically motivated.
The ROC has warned that such actions could damage the moral and spiritual fabric of Moldovan society.
