The Mara Regional Police are currently investigating allegations that a judge sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman in Musoma Municipality.

The alleged incident reportedly occurred on the night of November 9, 2024, at the judge’s residence in the Kenedi neighborhood of Musoma, where the woman had gone on the promise of potential employment.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Mara Regional Police Commander Pius Lutumo confirmed that an investigation is underway following the report. “We are thoroughly investigating the matter, and updates will follow as we gather more information,” Lutumo said.

The woman, whose identity remains protected for her privacy, confirmed the incident in a brief statement, though she declined to provide further details, stating she would be willing to speak at a later date.

When contacted for comment, the judge denied the allegations, saying, “I know nothing about these claims.”
