Tanzania’s Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa arrived in Abidjan on Monday to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at this year’s Africa CEO Forum, a high-level summit bringing together top government officials and business executives from across the continent.
Majaliwa was received at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport by Côte d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, ahead of the two-day forum which is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential platforms for economic dialogue and cooperation.
The event, running from May 12 to 13, has drawn more than 2,000 leaders from the public and private sectors. Under the central theme “A New Deal: States and Businesses Redefining Africa’s Future”, this year’s discussions focus on how African countries can unlock investment, improve infrastructure, and accelerate job creation — especially in light of global economic pressures and shifting development priorities.
For Tanzania, the forum presents a key opportunity to promote regional partnerships and share strategies for boosting trade, investment, and industrial development. Majaliwa is expected to take part in a number of sessions centered on infrastructure, regional integration, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), an ambitious initiative aimed at creating a single market across Africa.
“Engaging in platforms like this is crucial for nations like ours,” a senior Tanzanian official accompanying Majaliwa said. “It’s not just about being seen — it’s about actively shaping how Africa grows together.”

The Africa CEO Forum is co-organized by the Jeune Afrique Media Group and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Over the years, the forum has evolved into a hub for strategic conversations that bridge government ambitions and private-sector innovation.
Participants at this year’s edition include heads of state, finance ministers, central bank governors, and top executives from sectors like energy, technology, finance, and agriculture — all aligned on one goal: forging practical solutions to drive sustainable and inclusive growth in Africa.
With discussions continuing into Tuesday, the Tanzanian delegation is expected to hold sideline meetings with investors and policymakers aimed at exploring new areas of cooperation, including digital transformation, green energy, and cross-border logistics.
