President Samia Suluhu Hassan stressed the critical role of peace in fostering national progress during her keynote address at the Islamic Women’s Congress in Zanzibar today.
She emphasized that without peace, achieving development goals becomes impossible, pointing to neighboring countries currently grappling with internal conflicts as examples of the consequences of instability.
Speaking as the event’s guest of honor, President Samia noted, “When we observe global conflicts, many are linked to the topics discussed here today. These discussions provide not only spiritual guidance but also insights into our societal and political behaviors. It is our duty to respond to these challenges.”
She added, “We are reminded to strive with God’s help. God desires humanity to live in peace and tranquility. I repeat my call to fellow citizens to value and preserve this precious gift of peace. It allows us to worship peacefully and drives significant progress in our country. Without peace, we cannot achieve anything. Just look at the struggles in our neighboring countries this week as they struggle to restore peace, achieving nothing.”
President Samia’s remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing regional conflicts, urging Tanzanians to uphold peace as a prerequisite for economic and social development. Her message resonated strongly with attendees, reflecting a commitment to maintaining stability and prosperity in Tanzania.
