In a significant development, the East African Community (EAC) has officially welcomed Somalia as its newest member, marking a historic milestone for regional integration.
The Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC), Dr Peter Mathuki, who officially welcomed Somalia as a full member of the bloc disclosed that Somalia deposited her Instrument of Ratification on the Treaty of Accession at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, on Monday.
With this inclusion, Somalia becomes the 8th member state to join the EAC,which includes Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the DRC.
