In an effort to prepare the youth in Miganga North, Dodoma Region of Tanzania for the demands of the 21st century, the Tanzania Organization for Media and Information Literacy (TOMIDL) has launched its 5th digital skills training program in the region .
The initiative aims to equip young people with the necessary knowledge and expertise to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
The program, which is being implemented in collaboration with local educational institutions and community leaders, seeks to address the digital divide and empower youth with practical skills that are vital for success in today’s technology-driven society. Participants will receive training in various aspects of digital literacy, including computer proficiency, internet usage, digital communication, and online safety.
According to Mariilyn Badoo, the Executive Director of TOMIDL, the organization recognizes the importance of ensuring that young people have access to the tools and knowledge needed to effectively navigate the digital landscape. “In an era where technology plays a central role in almost every aspect of our lives, it is essential that our youth are equipped with the skills to harness the potential of digital platforms for their personal and professional development,” she stated.
The training program is expected to have a significant impact on the community, as it will enable young people to access a wide range of opportunities in fields such as entrepreneurship, education, and employment. By fostering digital literacy among the youth in Miganga North, TOMIDL aims to contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the region.
Local residents have expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, recognizing the value of digital skills in enhancing prospects for the younger generation. “This program will open up new possibilities for our youth and enable them to compete effectively in today’s digital world,” remarked one community member.
Former Ambassador Cypian Majengo, who served as observer for the training, advised older citizens to embrace technology and be willing to learn as the trend is here to stay.
