SIMBA SC’s Chairman, Murtaza Mangungu, has called for the club’s members and supporters to embrace constructive criticism to strengthen and build a prosperous club.
Mangungu made the call at the club’s Annual General Meeting in Dar-es-Salaam yesterday where he urged the club’s supporters to make constructive criticism and advocate for respectful feedback instead of unconstructive criticisms which hinder efforts of their club’s leadership to bring development of their club.
“We are open to any criticism, but it should be done with dignity,” Mangungu said highlighting the importance of avoiding groupings that hinder effective leadership. He emphasised that those opposing the club’s investments weaken the leadership efforts of seeking development of their club and hinder the club and investor’s development initiatives.
Apart from emphasising the importance of constructive criticisms and support for the development initiatives, Mangungu outlined various achievements resulting from investments of the club, which include Simba being ranked among the top 10 clubs in Africa and a revenue increase from 1.6 bn/- to 6.9 bn/-.
Responding to doubtful supporters, he said, “immediately after the investments, Simba Sports Club rose from being the 80th club in the continental ranking and is now among the top seven clubs in Africa.”
He further emphasised that the club’s leadership is determined to make Simba even more competitive in many more generations to come. “We aim to build a strong Simba for the current and future generations,” said Simba SC Chairman, Murtaza Mangungu.
On his part, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Imani Kajula, unveiled that the club’s ambition to be champions in and off the field, highlighting their transformation from criticism on WhatsApp channels to becoming the number one team in East and Central Africa. “We aspire to be champions in and off the field. We faced criticism when we initiated a WhatsApp channel, but today, we proudly lead as the number one team in East and Central Africa,” expressed Kajula.
According to the club’s Accountant, Suleiman Kahumbu, the club has exceeded the estimated budget for the year 2022/2023, spending 15.9bn/- instead of the projected 12.3bn/-.
He also said the club planned to use over 25.9bn/- in 2023/2024, with projected expenses of 25.4bn/- , leaving an excess of over 500m/-. “Expenditure budget for 2022/23 was projected at 12,363,626,983/- , but the actual expenditure was 15,936,829,943/-.
The club aims to generate 25,930,722,300/- in 2023/2024, with planned expenses of 25,423,997,354/- and we will have an additional income of 506,724,946/-,” said Kahumbu.
