President Samia Suluhu Hassan has extended her heartfelt condolences and directed swift action following the tragic collapse of a four-storey building in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam, on the morning of Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The incident has left residents shocked and rescue teams racing against time to save those trapped under the rubble.
Taking to social media platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp Channels, and X (formerly Twitter), President Samia expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. She stated:
*”I am deeply saddened to receive the news of the building collapse in Kariakoo ward, Ilala district, Dar es Salaam. I have directed regional leadership, the police force, the fire and rescue department, and other stakeholders to ensure a successful rescue and treatment of the injured.”*
The president emphasized her personal involvement in managing the crisis, revealing discussions with Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, who is overseeing rescue efforts on-site. She urged authorities to act swiftly and effectively while keeping her updated on the operation’s progress.

Emergency services, including the Fire and Rescue Brigade and medical personnel from Muhimbili National Hospital, are actively coordinating the rescue mission.
