India has successfully delivered 11 tons of humanitarian aid to Lebanon, marking a significant step in its commitment to support the nation amid ongoing challenges.
The first tranche of supplies arrived on Thursday and includes a wide array of pharmaceutical products, cardiovascular medications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antibiotics, and anesthetics.
The handover ceremony took place at the Beirut International Airport, where Indian Ambassador to Lebanon, Navdeep Singh Suri, officially presented the supplies to Lebanese officials.
Ambassador Suri emphasized the importance of the aid, stating, “India stands in solidarity with Lebanon during these challenging times. This assistance is part of our ongoing commitment to support the Lebanese people.”

The delivery is part of a larger initiative by India to provide humanitarian assistance to Lebanon, which has faced severe economic challenges, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the devastating 2020 Beirut port explosion. The Lebanese health sector has been under immense pressure, with shortages of essential medical supplies and medicines.
Lebanon’s Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, expressed gratitude for India’s support, highlighting that such aid is crucial for bolstering the country’s healthcare system. He noted, “This timely assistance will help address the pressing medical needs of our population, especially in the current context of health crises.”
The delivery of aid comes as part of India’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation with Lebanon. As the situation in the country continues to evolve, India remains committed to providing further support to ensure the wellbeing of the Lebanese people.
The Indian government plans to send additional shipments in the coming weeks, reaffirming its dedication to international cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
