President William Ruto has announced the second phase of his Cabinet since he dissolved it on July 11 after weeks of intense protests against the government, which included appointing allies of opposition leader Raila Odinga, whom Ruto defeated in the 2022 elections.
In a speech at Nairobi’s State House on Wednesday, President Ruto appointed Kipchumba Murkomen as the nominee for Minister of Youth, Innovation, and Sports. Murkomen previously served as the Minister of Transport in the previous Cabinet.

Others appointed to ministerial positions include John Mbadi (Finance), a close associate of Odinga, Salim Mvurya (Investment), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum), Hassan Joho (Mining), Alfred Mutua (Labor), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), Justin Muturi (Public Service), and Stella Langat in the Ministry of Gender.
These recent appointees join Duale, Tuya, and others whom President Ruto announced last Friday: Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Alice Wahome (Land), Julius Ogamba (Education), Andrew Karanja (Agriculture), Eric Muriithi Muuga (Water), Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport), and Margaret Ndung’u (ICT).
Speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly Moses Wetangula stated that all Cabinet nominees will undergo vetting, including those reappointed.
