Director of Health, Social Welfare, and Nutrition at the Office of the President TAMISEMI, Dr. Rashid Mfaume, has urged healthcare workers in the country to work with professionalism and ethical standards in delivering services to citizens.
Dr. Mfaume gave the directive while speaking to staff at Nzega Town Hospital, where he urged them to use words that are comforting to both patients and fellow workers in the service delivery area.
“There are a few among us who tarnish the image of healthcare workers, and fortunately, we know each other. If you ask in this hospital how many are complained about, you find it’s the same ones complained about for using foul language towards patients or colleagues,” said Dr. Rashid Mfaume.
Dr. Mfaume expressed concern over a few individuals within the healthcare workforce who tarnish the profession’s reputation through inappropriate behavior. He highlighted instances of complaints related to the use of offensive language towards patients or coworkers.
Addressing this issue, Dr. Mfaume expressed disappointment in employees who misuse social media by recording and sharing content depicting their colleagues’ actions online, a practice that goes against ethical standards.
Accompanied by the Health, Social Welfare, and Nutrition team from the Office of the President TAMISEMI, Director Dr. Rashid Mfaume is currently conducting inspections of health projects and evaluating the performance of healthcare providers at district and regional levels in the Tabora region.
