Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has emphasized the significance of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce as the foundation for fostering a competitive and sustainable economy.
He delivered these comments in Tanga during his speech at the National Celebrations of Education, Skills, and Innovation.
In his address, the Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing strategies and initiatives to promote education, skills, and the utilization of science, technology, and innovation (STI) as means to tackle economic and social challenges and propel the nation’s overall progress. “The government is dedicated to allocating resources to advance education across all levels, from primary education to vocational training, higher education, and research and innovation endeavors,” Hon. Majaliwa affirmed.
Majaliwa praised the excellent organization of the event and recommended its international promotion. He expressed satisfaction at the involvement of diverse stakeholders in advancing the education, science, and technology sectors through the Ministry and its affiliated institutions.
“I am delighted to witness the engagement of development partners and the private sector in the collaborative Smart Scholars project. The government will persist in attracting funding and resources from these partners to expand educational opportunities, foster skill development, and enhance technological utilization,” he stated.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Adolf Mkenda,, underscored the Ministry’s initiatives to boost the role of science, technology, and innovation. He emphasized ongoing efforts, including the revision of the National Science and Technology Policy for enhancement and alignment with the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy.
“There exist innovations and technologies that meet the criteria for addressing economic and social challenges. Consequently, the Ministry will continue to progress in developing and commercializing them,” Prof. Mkenda declared.
These festivities showcased the government’s collaboration with various stakeholders in prioritizing education and innovation to lay the foundation for Tanzania’s modern knowledge-based economy. The Prime Minister encouraged participants to sustain their cooperation in the education and technology sectors for swift and effective development.
