The Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train traveling between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma faced a technical delay on September 10, 2024, marking the second incident since the service’s launch in July.
According to a statement by the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), the delay occurred in the Ngerengere area early in the morning due to technical issues, which were later resolved, allowing the train to continue its journey. TRC extended its apologies to passengers for the inconvenience and appreciated their patience during the disruption.
That initial disruption was believed to have been caused by interference with the overhead electrical system, possibly by animals like monkeys or birds. TRC technicians quickly restored power, and the service resumed, ensuring passengers reached their destination safely. This incident follows a similar problem on July 31, 2024, when the train experienced a power failure on its route from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, causing a two-hour halt.
