This was revealed on October 4 this year by Morogoro Regional Commissioner, Hon. Adam Kighoma Malima, during a meeting with REA officials held at the conference hall of the regional office. The meeting aimed to assess the progress of the project and to introduce a new contractor from the company SINOTEC CO. LTD.
Explaining further, Hon. Malima said the region has a total of 669 villages, of which 652 have been connected to electricity, representing 97.5%. The remaining 17 villages are in the final stages of completion and are expected to be fully electrified by the end of October this year.
“…I say Morogoro has 669 villages, and 652 have been connected during this period, representing 97.5%. That is the reality…” said Hon. Adam Kighoma Malima.
Following this success, the leader said REA is now focusing its efforts on electrifying 3,369 hamlets in the region, with 1,655 hamlets already connected, representing 49%.
He added that 455 hamlets are expected to receive electricity over the next two years, with 289 of these hamlets currently under construction through the Densification IIB project.

The remaining 166 hamlets will receive electricity from the new contractor introduced today, October 4, 2024.
Hon. Malima took the opportunity to commend the sixth government for enabling REA to successfully implement this electricity project, which began with a budget of just TZS 2 billion for the entire country in 2008, and now the government is allocating TZS 154 billion for Morogoro Region alone. This progress has brought efficiency to other sectors like education, health, and even places of worship.
