Activist Godlisten Malisa announced on his Instagram page that they have successfully raised 5.6 million Tanzanian shillings to secure the release of a young man sentenced to two years in prison for burning a picture of the President of Tanzania.
“DONE! We have raised 5.6 million shillings in just six hours. In just 6 hours, we managed to raise nearly 6 million shillings. Tanzanians, you are amazing because you rise to the occasion!”
“What you have done for Chaula is historic, but it is also a lesson for the government. I do not support the use of foul language against leaders or anyone else, but the government must understand that many young people are stressed by life. They are educated, unemployed, and face numerous charges when they try to be entrepreneurial. Therefore, they end up expressing their frustrations inappropriately. We should teach them to be respectful but not silence their concerns by imprisoning them.”

“Chaula’s act was public, which is why he was arrested, but how many others are harboring resentment in their hearts due to the harsh living conditions? The wise approach is to forgive their language but address their concerns. Once again, may everyone who helped Chaula gain his freedom be blessed. The government’s 5 million shillings has been secured, along with the 600,000 shillings for Chaula to restart his life.”
“To God be the glory. Lawyers are currently working on obtaining the release order so Chaula can be freed from prison. We will update you on whether he will be released today or kept as a ‘free prisoner’ until Monday. Praise and glory to God in heaven.”
