Kamati ya Sera ya Fedha (MPC) imepandisha Riba ya Benki Kuu (CBR) kutoka asilimia 5.5 iliyotumika katika robo ya kwanza ya mwaka 2024 hadi asilimia sita, ambayo itatumika katika robo ya pili ya mwaka 2024, huku ikielezea mwenendo wa thamani ya Shilingi.
Akizungumza katika mkutano wa viongozi wa benki na waandishi wa habari, Gavana wa Benki Kuu ya Tanzania (BoT), Emmanuel Tutuba amesema uamuzi wa kuongeza riba ulifikiwa katika kikao cha kamati kilichofanyika jana Aprili 3, 2024 na umezingatia tathimini ya mwelekeo wa uchumi iliyofanyika Machi 2024.
Gavana Tutuba amesema lengo ni kudhibiti mfumko wa bei nchini ambao kwa sasa upo wastani wa asilimia tatu.
“Katika hatua muhimu ya kukabiliana na shinikizo la mfumuko wa bei linalotokana na mwenendo wa uchumi duniani, Kamati ya Sera ya Fedha (MPC) imetangaza ongezeko la Kiwango cha Riba ya Benki Kuu (CBR) kutoka asilimia 5.5 hadi asilimia 6.”
Akitoa taarifa ya kamati hiyo katika Ofisi Ndogo za Makao Makuu ya Benki Kuu Dar es Salaam mbele ya wakuu wa taasisi za fedha na vyombo vya habari, Gavana wa Benki Kuu, Bw. Emmanuel Tutuba amesema marekebisho ya CBR yatakayotekelezwa kwa robo ya pili ya mwaka huu, yaani Aprili hadi Juni 2024, yamo ndani ya wigo wa asilimia 2 juu na chini.

Hatua hii inaonesh azma ya benki kuu katika kudumisha utulivu katika mabadiliko ya uchumi.
