Speaking after visiting the victims, Minister Bashungwa extended his condolences to the families, friends, and relatives affected by the tragedy and called on Tanzanians to continue praying for the victims’ speedy recovery.
“I take this opportunity to pray for the souls of those we have lost in this accident here in Biharamulo. We have lost 11 of our loved ones; they have gone ahead of us,” said Bashungwa.
The minister further stated that the Ministry has started implementing directives from President Samia Suluhu Hassan by revising the driver’s license system. The changes aim to penalize drivers whose reckless actions endanger road safety by deducting points, potentially leading to license suspension.
Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer of Biharamulo Designated Hospital, Gresmus Sebuyoya, provided an update, stating that 26 of the injured have been discharged, while 16 remain under close observation and treatment.
“We still have four children who are doing well and six men under treatment. The fatalities were 11 in total: five women, four men, and two children,” Dr. Sebuyoya explained.
