Veteran Tanzanian Musician Zoro Returns After Long Illness

After over a year away from the stage due to illness, Tanzanian music legend Zahir Ally Zoro made a surprise appearance at the NENO Experience concert in Dar Es Salaam on November 2, 2024.

Zoro joined rappers Fid Q and Lord Eyes, who headlined the event to showcase tracks from their upcoming debut album, *NENO*. Organized by Wanene Entertainment, the show was a highly anticipated event attended by government officials, ambassadors, artists, and music industry figures, who gathered to celebrate this milestone for Tanzanian hip-hop.

Fid Q and Lord Eyes presented seven of the fifteen songs on the *NENO* album, blending social commentary with innovative musical styles. These tracks include collaborations with various artists, including Damian Soul, Melissa John, and Zoro himself. The album represents a fusion of classic and contemporary sounds, and Lord Eyes highlighted its ambitious scope, describing the project as a “revolution in Tanzanian hip-hop.”

In a speech during the event, Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts, and Sports Hamis Mwinjuma, known as Mwana FA, shared President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s support for Tanzanian artists, pledging government backing for cultural and artistic initiatives. This support is intended to ensure Tanzanian artists continue creating works that resonate both locally and globally.

With the album’s official release just around the corner, fans can expect a national tour from Fid Q and Lord Eyes, who plan to connect directly with fans across Tanzania.
