The National Health Insurance Fund has made significant improvements in its 2023 Benefits Package following the review of the National Essential Medicine List (NEMLIT) conducted by the Ministry of Health on April 30, 2024. This step aims to broaden the scope of access to medicines for its members while adhering to national treatment guidelines.
As a result of the review, the National Health Insurance Fund has taken the initiative to include previously excluded drugs from the NEMLIT in its Benefits Package. A total of 178 medicines have been added, encompassing combinations, formulations, and strengths necessary for optimal treatment. Additionally, four drugs that were already listed in the National Treatment Guidelines but were not included in the NEMLIT have also been incorporated.
These enhancements will have a significant impact on the members of the National Health Insurance Fund, as they will now be able to access medical services at registered facilities nationwide. The Fund assures its members that medical services will continue to be easily accessible without any inconvenience.

However, the Fund urges all healthcare facilities to contact its offices in case of implementation challenges to avoid unnecessary disruptions to their clients.
