Dar Taps Run Dry amidst Power,Sugar, Dollar Crisis

In a concerning turn of events, Dar Es Salaam and several other regions are currently facing a multitude of crises, including a severe water shortage coupled with challenges in power supply, escalating sugar prices, and a weakening currency leading to the run-out of the dollar currency.

For months, residents of Tanzania’s commercial capital, Dar es Salaam, and other regions have been grappling with an unprecedented water crisis, leaving them dry and frustrated in the face of soaring temperatures.

Residents have continued to air their frustrations to the government as the situation remains dire.
Aisha , is a mother of three teenage boys, daily struggling to share a 25 litre gallon of water with her children .”We no longer take a real bath, we simply apply a little soap on some essential parts of our bodies and resort to using a slightly dump cloth to rinse off. Taking a full shower is now a luxuary as we still need to reserve some portion for cooking. The situation is getting worse now , government should act now “she expressed.

“For about a week now i have taken my shower, i work as a student nurse and this is not healthy at all especially for a profession that encourages cleanliness. We pray to get some water by weekend else we will have to demonstrate our frustration to government “Hassan Mushi said in anger.
