The Minister of State in the Office of the President for Regional Administration and Local Government (Tamisemi), Mohamed Mchengerwa, announced on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, that the government will allocate TZS 3.2 billion to Peramiho, Ruvuma for the construction of a health center, secondary school, and road infrastructure.
Speaking during a meeting with residents of Peramiho as part of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s ongoing visit to the region, Mchengerwa emphasized the urgent need for improved healthcare services in the area. “Your Excellency, the President has directed that due to the population in Peramiho, the community can no longer rely solely on dispensaries for health services. Therefore, I am instructed to allocate TZS 600 million for the construction of a health center. I assure you that the funds will be made available immediately to commence the construction,” he stated.
In addition to healthcare improvements, the Minister revealed that the President has also directed that TZS 600 million be allocated for the establishment of a secondary school in the district. “I guarantee you, Your Excellency, that these funds will be provided without delay so that the children of Peramiho can access quality secondary education,” Mchengerwa affirmed.
The government is also set to enhance the road network in the area with the construction of two kilometers of paved roads, which is projected to cost approximately TZS 2 billion. “This development will significantly improve access to various services for the people of Peramiho,” he noted.
As part of her three-day working visit to Ruvuma, President Samia is expected to conclude her tour on September 28, 2024, with a public rally scheduled to take place at the Majimaji Grounds.
