U.S. President Joe Biden has said it was “negligent” for his predecessor, Donald Trump, to call his case fraudulent, a day after being found guilty, making history in the country.
Speaking about Trump’s first public comments regarding being found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records, Mr. Biden defended the U.S. judicial system.
“The American principle that no one is above the law was reaffirmed,” Mr. Biden said about what happened.

Earlier on Friday, Trump made strong remarks at a press conference at Trump Tower in Manhattan, calling the judge “corrupt,” the case a “hoax,” and the Democrats “bandits.”
Mr. Biden’s comments on Friday afternoon came at the start of a White House press briefing where he discussed the Middle East and a new proposal from Israel for Gaza.
Mr. Biden said his Republican opponent in the November presidential election had been given “every opportunity” to defend himself and that it was not right to complain that the process was unfair.
“It’s negligence. It’s dangerous. It’s irresponsible for anyone to say that this was orchestrated just because they don’t like the decision,” he said, adding that Trump is welcome to file an appeal.
Mr. Biden, who has rarely spoken publicly about Trump’s legal troubles, said the judicial system is the “foundation of America.”
“The judicial system must be respected and we must never allow anyone to undermine it. It’s just that simple. That’s America. That’s who we are,” he said.
