Resident Michael Richard, a 26-year-old from Mbuyuni in Kizota ward, Dodoma, was brutally murdered in his home in the early hours of August 28th, leaving the community in shock and fear.
The attackers, who remain unidentified, also severely injured Richard’s wife, Agnes Eliah, and their four children before setting fire to the house in what police believe was an attempt to destroy evidence.
According to Dodoma Regional Police Commander George Katabazi, the attack took place around 9:00 AM when the assailants forced their way into Richard’s home. Preliminary investigations suggest that Richard was struck on the head with a blunt object, leading to his immediate death. The attackers then turned on the rest of the family, leaving them with serious injuries that required urgent medical attention.
“The suspects attempted to cover up their crime by setting fire to a mattress in the house,” said Commander Katabazi. He added that the police are treating the incident as a possible revenge attack, although the exact motive remains unclear. “We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the reason behind this heinous crime. Our officers are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible.”
