As the countdown to International Women’s Day continues, the people of Arusha have kicked off the celebrations in a unique way by prioritizing their health.
In anticipation of the national event set to take place in the region on March 8, 2025, residents have been actively participating in free fitness sessions organized by the regional commissioner’s office.
The initiative, which has brought together professional yoga instructors and fitness trainers from both within Tanzania and abroad, aims to promote a culture of wellness among the community. Residents have eagerly turned up for the sessions, engaging in activities such as yoga, aerobics, and strength training—all designed to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.
A local fitness trainer expressed excitement about the initiative, noting how physical activity plays a crucial role in overall well-being. “It’s amazing to see so many people come together for this. Exercise is not just about fitness it boosts mental health, builds confidence, and strengthens the community,” he said.
For many women participating in the sessions, this experience has been about more than just fitness. “It’s empowering to be part of something that encourages us to take care of our bodies and minds,” shared one participant. “We juggle so many responsibilities every day, and sometimes we forget to prioritize our health.”
