The BRICS Space Industry Conference was held in Moscow on 26 November.
More than 40 representatives of BRICS space agencies participated in a videoconference hosted by Glavkosmos.
Roscosmos Director General Yury Borisov welcomed Conference participants, noting in his speech the benefits of working together on large-scale space projects. “While carrying out major industry-specific scientific projects together technological alliances are made to find, develop, and apply innovative solutions, products, and services. Solutions obtained for space invariably contribute to growth in other sectors of the economy, increasing knowledge and raising the qualifications of our human resources to a new level, and, consequently, improving welfare and quality of life,” he said.

Participants took advantage of the opportunity presented by two thematic sessions – ‘Space Technology: Challenges and Opportunities’ and ‘Space Education: The Responsibility for Future Engineers Rests with Us’ – to discuss the course and outlook for multilateral cooperation and presented initiatives for the creation and implementation of a number of space projects.
One important topic covered during discussions in light of BRICS increasing size was how to evaluate the organization’s combined scientific, technological, productive, and human resource potential and identify areas of mutual interest for the exploration and development of outer space for peaceful purposes and the practical application of the results of such space-related activities.
The discussion wrapped up with a thematic session dedicated to remote sensing of the Earth.
