Simba SC has reopened negotiations with Democratic Republic of Congo winger Elie Mpanzu after earlier talks fell through.
According to sources within the club, Simba’s leadership decided to resume negotiations with full force after their player, Kibu Denis, reportedly fled to Norway without permission from his employers.
Initially, Simba offered USD 150,000 while Mpanzu’s club, AS Vita, demanded USD 250,000. Now, Simba has increased their offer to USD 200,000 to acquire the winger.
“Currently, the leaders are scrambling because on the left side there’s Joshua Mutale, and on the right side, Kibu was highly relied upon. Given the current situation, even if Kibu returns, he won’t be part of the squad, so they have decided to return to the market to find another right winger of international caliber,” said the source.

Another source indicated that this time the negotiations are progressing well and Mpanzu might be officially announced as a new Simba player starting today, Saturday.
Mpanzu’s manager, known as Papa Papida, stated that he couldn’t reveal much as the matter was confidential between him and Simba SC.
“For now, this matter is a secret between us and Simba. Be patient, whether the deal goes through or not, you will find out,” the manager said.
He emphasized that if Simba secures Mpanzu, they will have a very talented player who has been sought after by many clubs across Africa.
“He has always been a great player, but now his star is shining bright. Many teams in Africa are after him. I know Simba won’t fail because they are a very big team,” Papida said.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the club’s leadership has returned to the market to search for a striker after head coach Fadlu Davids expressed dissatisfaction with Freddy Michael’s performance.
Reports from the camp indicate that the coach has asked Simba’s bosses to find a highly capable striker who can score goals before the transfer window closes on August 16.
Additionally, the team’s goalkeeper, Ali Salim, mentioned that they are well-prepared for the upcoming season and the Community Shield match against Yanga.
“We are preparing well for the entire season, but we are particularly focused on August 8, our Community Shield match against Yanga. Our goals start there – to win trophies, and we want our fans to come out in large numbers to see the new Simba,” he said.
In other news, the club has announced Uwayezu Francois Regis as the new Chief Executive Officer starting August 1.
A statement issued by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mohamed Dewji ‘Mo,’ revealed that Regis, a Rwandan national, has held various positions in his country, with expertise in football, administration, and finance.
Regis has also held various positions within the Rwandan Football Federation and the African Football Confederation (CAF).
The Rwandan is replacing Iman Kajula, who announced that he will be stepping down from the position on August 31.
