President Samia Suluhu Hassan emphasized the critical role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in advancing education and global development.
Her remarks came during the inauguration of the Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan Girls’ Secondary School in Namtumbo District, Ruvuma Region.
In her address, President Samia underscored the rapid technological changes occurring worldwide, urging students to seize the opportunities presented by the school’s ICT department. “The world is shifting towards modern technologies, and we must adapt,” she stated. “Students should take full advantage of the ICT facilities available to them to deeply understand these technologies.”
The President highlighted the importance of AI in contemporary learning environments, noting that traditional methods of using pen and paper are becoming less relevant. She elaborated, “Many tasks will now be performed online. Answers to various academic inquiries are readily accessible on the internet. I encourage students to utilize tools like Google and ChatGPT to find answers for their studies. If you learn effectively, you will discover that the secrets to knowledge are all available online. You must take advantage of these resources.”
President Samia’s message aligns with her government’s broader initiative to integrate technology into Tanzania’s educational framework. By investing in digital resources, the government aims to equip students with the skills necessary for the modern job market.
