Former Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has admitted to paying $100,000 to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in an attempt to prevent the release of an incriminating video that led to his resignation from the GFA, CAF, and FIFA in 2018.
“Before the video was released, a former colleague at the GFA Exco, Adam Munkaila, took me to Anas’ lawyers, a certain Kwame Gyan, a lecturer at Legon. I met him at his residence around Westland and he told me Anas was his student and had informed him he needed $150,000 to kill the story.
The video, released in June 2018, exposed Nyantakyi and other football officials compromising the integrity of the game.

The Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming Ejisu constituency by-election following the recent passing of former MP John Kumah. In an interview with Captain Smart on Tuesday, Nyantakyi shared his aspirations if elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu. He expressed his dedication to revitalizing Ghanaian football, a sector he previously led during his GFA tenure.
Highlighting his experience as a former GFA President, Nyantakyi positioned himself as an “insider” well-versed in football administration intricacies. Additionally, he emphasized his legal background, intending to utilize his legal expertise to contribute to sports development.
Nyantakyi’s return to football administration follows suspensions from various governing bodies due to corruption allegations revealed in an exposé by Tiger Eye PI. His entry into the political arena has brought attention to the Ejisu by-election, set to fill the vacant parliamentary seat.
