The governments of Tanzania and Saudi Arabia have signed a bilateral agreement aimed at enhancing cooperation in combating crime, including cybercrime, and improving disaster response capabilities for incidents such as fires, road accidents, and maritime accidents.
Tanzania’s Minister of Home Affairs, Engineer Hamad Masauni, signed the agreement on behalf of the Tanzanian government during his official visit to Saudi Arabia. His counterpart, Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Al Saud, signed on behalf of the Saudi government.
The agreement seeks to strengthen joint efforts to combat the rising threat of cybercrime, while also bolstering both nations’ capacities to handle disasters such as fires, traffic accidents, and maritime emergencies that have claimed lives and caused extensive damage in recent years.
Minister Masauni highlighted the importance of the agreement, emphasizing that Tanzania will benefit from Saudi Arabia’s advanced technology and expertise in security and disaster management. He noted that this cooperation will enhance the effectiveness of Tanzania’s security agencies in dealing with emerging criminal threats, particularly those that utilize modern technology.
Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Al Saud expressed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Tanzania, pledging technical assistance and the provision of necessary equipment to strengthen Tanzania’s national security framework.
