This agreement was formalized on October 28, 2024, during discussions held in Dar es Salaam between Tanzania’s Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Pindi Chana, and Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Gennadyevich Reshetnikov. The session outlined strategic collaboration to boost tourism, with Dr. Chana highlighting the robust partnership between Tanzania and Russia that has spanned economic, diplomatic, and cultural areas since 1961.

The collaboration includes plans for joint tourism education programs linking a Russian university with Tanzania’s National College of Tourism, coordinated international tourism promotion, and expert exchanges between the two countries’ tourism boards and national museums. Key efforts will also focus on improving air connectivity and simplifying payment systems to ease transactions for Russian tourists, allowing them to use Russian-issued cards in Tanzania.
