President Samia Suluhu Hassan has implemented a series of changes in key government positions, announced on March 9, 2024, affecting Regional Commissioners, Regional Administrative Secretaries, District Commissioners, and Council Directors. These adjustments aim to improve government efficiency, according to the State House.
Halima Dendego has been transferred from Iringa to become the new Regional Commissioner of Singida, succeeding Peter Serukamba. Simultaneously, Peter Serukamba has been reassigned as the Regional Commissioner of Iringa, taking over from Dendego.
Paulo Chacha, former District Commissioner of Misungwi in the Mwanza region, has been appointed as the new Regional Commissioner of Tabora. He replaces Dr. Batilda Burian, who now assumes the role of Regional Commissioner of Tanga. Prior to his role in Misungwi, Chacha served as District Commissioner in Kaliua, Tabora region.
In another move, President Samia has replaced Dr. Francis Michael as the Regional Commissioner of Songwe with former CCM Secretary General Daniel Chongolo. Dr. Michael, who previously held positions as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Education, Science, and Technology, as well as Natural Resources and Tourism, has been relieved of his duties in Songwe.
