Prince Harry has opened up in a heartfelt interview, expressing his deep desire to repair his fractured relationship with his family — especially his father, King Charles III, and brother, Prince William.

Speaking candidly with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex said he is ready for reconciliation but emphasized that healing won’t come without difficult conversations. “I would like to have my father back. I would like to have my brother back,” he shared, noting that time, honesty, and mutual respect are key to moving forward.

Since stepping back from his royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California with his wife Meghan Markle, Harry has remained at the center of both public admiration and controversy. While his life in the United States offers freedom and privacy, the Prince admitted that being away from home — and family — weighs heavily on him, particularly when it comes to his children.

He expressed regret that his son Archie and daughter Lilibet have not been able to build a connection with their grandfather or explore their British roots. “That’s what hurts the most,” Harry said. “My children deserve to know where they come from — both sides of their story.”

However, security concerns remain a major obstacle. Harry has been embroiled in a legal battle with the UK government after his request for publicly funded police protection while in Britain was denied. He argues that the safety of his family should not be compromised when visiting the UK, particularly given past threats and the attention they continue to attract.

He also hinted at internal royal politics playing a role in that decision, saying he was “devastated” that the Royal Household may have influenced the denial. Though he didn’t name individuals, he suggested that behind-the-scenes resistance to his return still lingers.

Despite the tension and past wounds, Harry emphasized that he harbors no ill will. “Forgiveness is important. It’s not about blame — it’s about understanding, and being willing to rebuild,” he said.

The Royal Family has not issued a response to the interview, and Buckingham Palace continues to maintain its policy of not commenting on personal matters. However, as King Charles battles cancer, many are wondering whether the moment is right for a healing of family ties — and whether Harry’s outstretched hand will be met with one in return.
