The Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, has met and held discussions with the Minister of Infrastructure of Burundi, Hon. Dieudonné Dukundane, regarding the progress of the Modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Project that will connect the two countries.
In the discussions held in Dodoma, the leaders stated that upon completion, the project will boost trade in minerals and agriculture, as well as strengthen regional relations and promote the economies of both countries.
Dr. Nchemba stated that the cooperation between the two countries in the preparation for the construction of the Modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) has been excellent, with experts from both sides continuing meetings, especially in the areas of procurement and finance, to ensure the success of every aspect.
“The construction of this Railway to connect our countries is very important to us, and the directives from Her Excellency the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, are that it’s a Priority Project and she wants it completed,” added Dr. Nchemba.
He mentioned that experts from both countries continue to collaborate to ensure the success and fulfillment of the expectations of the President of Tanzania and the President of Burundi to see the project succeed.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing of the Republic of Burundi, Hon. Dieudonné Dukundane, stated that his country will ensure that the project is given top priority, with a team of experts from Burundi already in Dar es Salaam, working on procurement issues in collaboration with Tanzanian experts.
“My President, Hon. Evariste Ndayishimiye, has directed us to closely follow and prioritize the entire process to ensure it ends well. Having lived here in Tanzania for six (6) years, I have seen how the SGR will accelerate the development of the country,” said Hon. Dukundane.
Upon completion, the Modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project, particularly the construction of the railway from Uvinza to Musongati in Burundi, will enable the transportation of three million tons of minerals annually from the large Nickel mine located in Musongati, Burundi, estimated to have reserves of 150 million tons of Nickel, Cobalt, and Copper minerals, and also enhance the economic activities of both countries.
I view something really special in this internet site.
