In the vibrant coastal ward of Somangila, ACT-Wazalendo parliamentary candidate  Mwanaisha Mndeme has been meeting residents directly through a “door-to-door” campaign, engaging with them personally to understand their daily challenges.

She was accompanied by the party’s ward council candidate, Salumu Liwanda, highlighting the party’s coordinated approach to both local and national issues.

During her visits, Mndeme spoke candidly about the pressing needs of Kigamboni, noting that while the area has significant potential, poor policy implementation has left many residents struggling with poverty and limited access to essential services. She highlighted several priority areas, including road infrastructure, transportation services, employment opportunities, education, and healthcare.

“Residents of Kigamboni deserve a leader who listens and acts,” Mndeme told a gathering of community members. “Our focus is on building safer roads, improving ferry and transport services, creating jobs, and enhancing education and healthcare systems. These steps are vital for sustainable development and improving the quality of life.”

The grassroots campaign allowed residents to voice their concerns directly, ranging from broken roads and unreliable ferry services to overcrowded classrooms and under-resourced clinics. Many participants expressed hope that Mndeme’s leadership could bring tangible improvements and address long-standing challenges. By engaging with people face-to-face, the candidate aims to build trust and ensure development aligns with real community needs.

Political observers note that door-to-door engagement is especially crucial in urban constituencies like Kigamboni District, where rapid urbanization and population growth have intensified social and economic pressures. Direct interaction allows candidates to better understand local priorities and craft targeted solutions that can have meaningful impact.

Mndeme also stressed the untapped economic potential of Kigamboni, pointing out opportunities in small-scale trade, tourism, and local industries. She argued that with better planning and management, residents—especially youth and women—could access greater economic opportunities, reducing unemployment and fostering community growth.

Community members attending her campaign events expressed cautious optimism. While some recalled disappointments with past leaders, they appreciated Mndeme’s approach of listening and engaging with residents directly. Many said this type of interaction made them feel that their voices were being heard and could influence decision-making.
