Tanzania is expected to experience a combination of sunshine, scattered clouds and isolated showers over the next 24 hours, according to the national weather agency.

The latest update, covering the period beginning at 9:00 p.m., outlines varying conditions across different regions as the country moves further into the short-rains season.

In the western corridor, areas such as Kagera and Kigoma are forecast to remain partly cloudy, with isolated thundershowers anticipated in a few locations before giving way to brighter spells. Along the coastline — including the islands of Unguja and Pemba, as well as the wider Coast Region that covers Mafia Island — light rain showers may occur intermittently, alternating with sunshine. Dar es Salaam and Tanga are expected to experience similar weather shifts, with warm daytime conditions occasionally interrupted by brief showers.

Southern and inland regions, including Mtwara, Lindi, Katavi and Tabora, are projected to remain largely dry under partly cloudy skies. Central areas such as Morogoro, Singida and Dodoma will also experience stable conditions, with clouds and sunshine dominating the day and minimal probability of rain.

In the northern highlands — Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro — the forecast points to calm, mostly sunny conditions. The Lake Zone, covering Geita, Shinyanga, Mwanza, Simiyu and Mara, will see steady sunshine under partly cloudy skies. The Southern Highlands, including Ruvuma, Rukwa, Iringa, Njombe, Songwe and Mbeya, are also expected to enjoy stable weather with mild cloud cover.

Temperature projections indicate highs of 29°C in Arusha, 32°C in Dar es Salaam and up to 33°C in Dodoma. Cooler conditions are anticipated in Iringa and Njombe, which traditionally record lower overnight temperatures. Sunrise times across the country will range from around 5:55 a.m. to 6:40 a.m., with sunsets varying between 6:21 p.m. and 7:02 p.m.

Along the coastline, winds are expected to blow from the northeast at about 20 km/h, with sea conditions remaining slight — favourable for small-scale marine activities.

For now, the national weather agency has not released new updates beyond this advisory, although a slight shift in weather patterns may occur by Friday, 5 December. Citizens are encouraged to monitor further announcements as oceanic and atmospheric conditions continue to evolve.

Weather information remains vital to national planning, influencing agriculture, transport, fishing and disaster readiness. More details on weather forecasting help explain how predictions are generated. The science behind these systems is rooted in meteorology, while broader seasonal behaviours can be understood through the study of climate variability.
