CHADEMA has decided to allow Joseph Mbilinyi (Sugu) and Peter Msigwa to compete in the election for the chairman of the Nyasa region.

Before this, there were rumors that one of them might be prevented after the investigation process by the Central Committee that took four days starting from May 11 this year.

Yesterday, CHADEMA published a list of candidates nominated to participate in their respective areas, and Sugu and Pastor Msigwa, both former members of parliament, were included.

The region seems to have intense competition, leading to tensions among the top leaders of CHADEMA and their supporters.

Other candidates in different regions include Hezekiah Wenje, former MP for Nyamagana, and John Pambalu, Chairman of the CHADEMA Youth Council (BAVICHA).

Some candidates were removed from the list, such as Emmanuel Ntobi, who was aiming for the chairmanship of the Serengeti region, and his counterpart James Mahangi, who is now the chairman of CHADEMA in Shinyanga region.

The Nyasa region had three candidates, and one of them, Daniel Mwambipile, was eliminated.

In the Western region, all four candidates were nominated, including Dickson Matata, Gaston Garubindi, Mussa Mafure, and Ngassa Mboje.

According to the Director of Protocol, Communications, and External Affairs, John Mrema, Section 7.5 of CHADEMA’s 13-point regulations outlines the qualifications each candidate for their respective positions must possess and was used to nominate these candidates.

Mrema stated that those whose applications were rejected must accept the outcome, as there are other party duties they will continue to fulfill.

Elections for these regions are expected to take place on May 29 this year. Other matters discussed in the Central Committee meeting, which are expected to be announced at any time, include a statement from the National Chairman of CHADEMA, Freeman Mbowe.
