Vice-President Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi has called on Tanzanians of all faiths to use their religious platforms to pray for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, saying her health, wisdom and security are closely tied to the country’s stability, unity and long-term development.

Dr Nchimbi made the appeal on Friday, February 6, 2026, during the installation ceremony of the fifth national leadership of the Tanzania Council of Pentecostal Churches (CPTC), held at the Agape Life Church auditorium in Dar es Salaam. The event brought together church leaders, worshippers and government officials.

In his address, the Vice-President emphasised the critical responsibility carried by the Head of State and said spiritual support from citizens is an important pillar in strengthening national leadership and governance.

He urged religious leaders and believers across denominations to consistently include the President in their prayers, asking for divine guidance in decision-making and protection as she executes her constitutional duties.

“Pray for the President’s health, wisdom and security because these are directly connected to the peace and progress of our nation,” Dr Nchimbi said. “When the country’s top leader is well and guided, the nation is also strengthened.”

He added that prayers should also extend to those who work closely with the President, noting that the effectiveness of the executive office depends not only on the leader but also on the integrity and patriotism of her aides and advisers.

The Vice-President said there is a need to pray that the President is supported by loyal, honest and genuinely patriotic assistants who put national interests ahead of personal benefit. According to him, weak or self-serving advisory circles can undermine good leadership and slow national progress.

Dr Nchimbi further noted that many citizens do not fully understand the weight and sensitivity of the presidential office, including the volume of decisions and pressures involved in running the state. He said greater public awareness is needed about the demands placed on national leadership.

He described the presidency as a unifying institution that stands above political, religious and ethnic divisions, and therefore deserving of broad-based moral and spiritual backing.

Speaking about the role of faith institutions, Dr Nchimbi said churches and other religious bodies remain key partners in promoting national values, social harmony and ethical conduct. He encouraged them to continue preaching unity, accountability and patriotism alongside spiritual teachings.

The Agape Life Church ceremony marked the formal commissioning of new CPTC national leaders, who were urged to strengthen cooperation with government and community institutions in advancing social and moral development.
