Tanzania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, recently met with India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh, in New Delhi.

Their discussions focused on ways to strengthen the growing trade and investment relations between their two countries, particularly in the energy sector. The meeting took place during India’s Third Annual Energy Week celebrations.

Dr. Biteko spoke about the opportunities for Indian companies to invest in Tanzania, especially in the areas of electricity generation, LPG distribution, and bulk fuel procurement. He highlighted that competition in the fuel sector is vital to ensure a steady supply of petroleum products for Tanzanians. He added that Tanzania is ready to welcome more investment, stressing the government’s commitment to leveraging its resources to secure reliable energy for its people.

“We are determined to use every resource available to make sure we meet the growing energy demands of our country,” Dr. Biteko said during the meeting. “Tanzania is eager to work with partners like India who bring expertise and technological solutions to the table.”

The talks also emphasized the importance of building capacity within Tanzania’s energy sector, enabling local professionals to gain valuable experience and know-how. Both leaders agreed on the need for collaboration that not only boosts energy infrastructure but also fosters knowledge sharing between the two nations.
