Tanzania has taken another step in strengthening its international partnerships for development. Finance Minister Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba met with Mr. Albahar Waleed, the Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, today at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Africa Heads of State and Government Energy Summit.
During their discussions, the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing Tanzania’s development goals. They focused on key areas such as improving access to clean water, expanding infrastructure, and enhancing social services for the people.
Dr. Nchemba underlined the importance of collaboration in driving progress in these sectors, which are critical for Tanzania’s growth. “Our partnership with the Kuwait Fund has been instrumental in implementing impactful projects, and today’s discussions mark a new chapter in that relationship,” he said.
On his part, Mr. Waleed praised Tanzania’s development strides and reiterated the Kuwait Fund’s support for ongoing and future initiatives. “We are inspired by Tanzania’s commitment to its people and are ready to contribute to the transformative projects that lie ahead,” he said.

The meeting also included senior Tanzanian officials such as Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and her Deputy, Ms. Amina Hamisi Shaaban. Ambassador Abdalah Kilima, who heads the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also participated. Senior representatives from the Kuwait Fund were present, underscoring the importance of the discussions.
The collaboration between Tanzania and the Kuwait Fund comes at a time when the government is prioritizing sustainable development to improve the quality of life for its citizens. Through this partnership, key projects in water, infrastructure, and social services are expected to accelerate, benefiting communities across the country.
The meeting was a significant part of Tanzania’s broader participation in the Energy Summit, which brings together African leaders and global partners to address critical issues of energy and development. The summit has become a key platform for fostering international cooperation.
Moving forward, both parties have agreed to form a task force to identify and prioritize projects that will be implemented under the renewed partnership. This step is aimed at ensuring that the agreed initiatives are rolled out swiftly and effectively, delivering tangible benefits to Tanzanians.
