The Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) have signed a contract with the International Credit Rating Agency (ICRA) that will allow Tanzanian businesspeople to acquire loans from abroad.

The President of TCCIA, Vicent Minja made the statement when addressing journalists in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, adding that through the contract, businesses will be first evaluated for they are advanced loans.

Elaborating, he noted that the evaluation will determine who is worth getting the loan and who is not.

“If your business is worth getting the loan from the evaluation conducted, they will go further to see how much loan you can get,” TCCIA President stated.

He added; “the ICRA are experts in these matters, they are registered with the Central Bank and they have been doing this in other countries-it is a recognized company.”

However, he said that TCCIA has entered the agreement with the sole goal of helping its members to meet all the necessary criteria of getting the loan(s), but also to unite traders as well as ensuring that the private sector operates in a conducive environment.
