Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura on October 12, 2026, visited seven police officers receiving treatment at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam following a road accident in Magole, Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, that claimed the lives of three officers.
Wambura was accompanied by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Ramadhan Kingai, during the visit, which aimed to assess the condition of the injured officers and encourage them as they continue receiving medical care.
At the hospital, the police chief met with specialist doctors treating the officers and received updates on their progress. Their health conditions were reported to be improving, although they remain under medical care as further treatment continues.
Wambura commended the management of Muhimbili National Hospital and the medical teams for the emergency care already provided and their continued efforts to ensure the officers receive appropriate treatment.
He expressed appreciation for the hospital’s role in supporting the injured officers, whose recovery remains important to their families and the police force.

The visit also underscored the importance of timely emergency response and specialised medical services in managing serious road accident injuries.

The accident occurred on October 8, 2026, in the Magole area of Kilosa District, Morogoro Region. It resulted in the deaths of three police officers and left seven others injured, prompting their transfer for continued treatment at Muhimbili National Hospital.
The loss of the three officers has highlighted the risks faced by police personnel while carrying out their duties, including travelling on public roads in the course of official assignments.
Police officers play a central role in maintaining law and order, responding to emergencies, investigating crimes and protecting the lives and property of citizens. Road accidents involving members of the force can therefore affect not only their families but also police operations and the wider communities they serve.

The continued improvement in the condition of the seven injured officers is encouraging, although their recovery will depend on their medical needs and the progress of treatment.
Muhimbili National Hospital, Tanzania’s national referral hospital, provides specialised medical services to patients referred from different parts of the country. Its medical teams handle complex cases requiring advanced assessment, treatment and continued monitoring.
Wambura’s visit reflects the police leadership’s responsibility to follow up on the welfare of officers injured or affected while serving the country.
As the injured officers continue treatment, attention remains on their recovery and the support they require before they can return to their normal duties.
The incident also serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and measures to reduce preventable accidents, particularly those involving vehicles transporting people on official assignments.
The Tanzania Police Force has continued to face the responsibility of protecting the public while ensuring the welfare of its personnel, whose work often exposes them to demanding and potentially dangerous circumstances.
