President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has commended former Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa for his contribution to overseeing and implementing key initiatives aimed at relocating government operations to Dodoma and developing the Mtumba Government City.
Dr. Samia made the remarks on October 30, 2026, during the inauguration of ministry and government institution office buildings, tarmac roads and other essential infrastructure at Mtumba Government City in Dodoma.
She said the progress achieved in constructing and completing the city’s infrastructure was the result of close supervision and commitment by government leaders and senior officials who played key roles at different stages of the project.
In recognising their contributions, President Samia specifically acknowledged former Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, the late Chief Secretary John Kijazi, and the current Chief Secretary, Ambassador Moses Kusiluka, for their roles in advancing the government’s relocation to Dodoma.

She also recognised the contributions of various technical committees for their coordination and supervision of activities related to the relocation of government operations and the development of the Government City.
President Samia said the completion of permanent multi-storey office buildings, tarmac roads and other infrastructure represents a continuation of the vision of Tanzania’s founding father, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, to establish Dodoma as the country’s capital.
She emphasised that the achievement reflects collective efforts and called for the continued effective use of the infrastructure to improve government efficiency and enhance public service delivery.
