The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism continues to implement the directives of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Commander-in-Chief, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, stemming from the recommendations of the Criminal Justice Commission aimed at improving the Conservation Force by providing training to ensure it carries out its responsibilities in accordance with the Principles of Law and Human Rights.
While delivering the training to the Conservation Force personnel from the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA), the Tanzania Forest Service (TFS), and the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) from the Simiyu and Mara regions, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Natural Resources and Tourism in charge of Natural Resources, Police Commissioner (CP) Benedict Wakulyamba, emphasized that the nation has great faith in them to protect and manage the country’s natural resources, hence it is essential for them to uphold this trust, which is rooted in the public’s confidence in them.

Additionally, CP Wakulyamba urged the officers to refrain from misconduct in their duties, particularly corruption and falsely implicating citizens in criminal activities. He advised them to build good relationships among themselves and with the surrounding communities near the conservation areas, as these communities are inherently familiar with the protected areas, while the officers have professional knowledge of these regions. This cooperation will facilitate conservation efforts and bring benefits to the nation.
He added that to strengthen the Conservation Force in the country, the Ministry continues to collaborate with other security agencies, including the Police Force and the People’s Defense Forces, to enhance their operational capacity.
“We have begun collaborating with the Police Force to train our officers on adhering to Criminal Justice principles in the execution of their duties. These principles include safe arrests, respecting human dignity, search laws, and the lawful seizure of criminal property,” stated CP Wakulyamba.
