Bumbuli Member of Parliament, January Makamba, has expressed his gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her continued efforts in driving development initiatives that are transforming the lives of residents in Bumbuli and Lushoto District, Tanga Region.
Speaking at a public gathering in Lushoto on Monday, February 24, 2025, Makamba commended President Samia’s leadership, citing the inauguration of the new Bumbuli District Council office as a testament to the government’s commitment to improving services and infrastructure in the region.
“The presence of this large crowd today is a clear indication of how much the people of Bumbuli appreciate your leadership. Over the past four years, your government has initiated significant projects that have positively impacted lives, and the people can see and feel the change,” Makamba stated.
One of the key projects he highlighted was the long-awaited construction of the Soni–Bumbuli–Dindira–Korogwe road. For over two decades, residents have sought improvements to the road, which serves as a critical transport link in the region. The recent approval for its construction to tarmac level marks a major milestone in enhancing accessibility and boosting economic activities.
“For years, this road has been a major challenge for us. However, just three weeks ago, we received confirmation that the government has approved its upgrade to tarmac level. This is a historic achievement for the people of Bumbuli and Lushoto, as it will significantly improve transportation and economic opportunities in the Usambara Mountains,” Makamba emphasized.
Reflecting on the region’s political landscape, he noted that Bumbuli and Lushoto have consistently been strongholds of the ruling party. He expressed confidence that, given the government’s ongoing development efforts, support for President Samia’s administration would remain strong in the upcoming elections.

“This region has always been loyal to the ruling party, and with the remarkable progress we have witnessed under President Samia’s leadership, I am confident that we will secure over 90% of the vote in the next election,” he asserted.
During the event, President Samia addressed the crowd, using a metaphor to explain her leadership approach, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.
“As mothers, you know how we handle things—when a child misbehaves, you discipline them, maybe even deny them a meal. I did that to my child, but today, I am bringing them back to their mother,” she remarked, signaling a firm yet nurturing leadership style that aims to guide and unify the nation.
Makamba concluded his remarks by personally thanking President Samia for her trust in him and for her unwavering commitment to national development. He reassured the people of Bumbuli that he would continue working closely with the government to ensure further progress reaches their communities.
“This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you!”
