Dar es Salaam Celebrates 13 Newborns Christmas Night

 While Christians across Tanzania and around the world celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve, 13 babies were welcomed into the world across several hospitals in Dar es Salaam, bringing joy and hope to families and healthcare workers alike.

According to hospital sources, maternity wards at regional referral hospitals in Mwananyamala, Temeke, Agakhan, and Palestina experienced a busy night as expectant mothers gave birth during the festive season.

Florian Godwin, a spokesperson for Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital, said that three babies were born during the night — two girls and one boy. All mothers and newborns were reported to be in good health, receiving attentive care from hospital staff.

At Temeke Regional Referral Hospital, Onesmo Milanzi shared that a baby girl weighing 2.8 kilograms was delivered via cesarean section. Milanzi confirmed that both mother and child were stable and under careful medical supervision.

Meanwhile, Olayce Lotha from Agakhan Hospital reported five births during the night, including four girls and one boy. At Palestina Hospital, four more babies arrived, completing the total of 13 newborns across the city’s major hospitals.
