China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Tanzania Branch has donated 300 books to the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in the third phase of its educational support initiative, reaffirming its commitment to academic development and cultural exchange between China and Tanzania.

The donation was made under the China Bookshelf programme, an initiative that has been implemented for three consecutive years with the aim of strengthening learning resources in higher education institutions. The books were officially handed over during a ceremony held at the University of Dar es Salaam, attended by university officials, representatives of CCCC, and members of the academic community.

The donated materials cover a wide range of subjects, including Chinese history, traditional culture, modern development, international relations, and technological advancement. Published in both English and Chinese, the books are expected to serve as valuable reference materials for students, researchers, and lecturers interested in global studies and cross-cultural understanding.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Director of Library Services at the University of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Collin Kimaryo, expressed appreciation for the continued support from CCCC. He said the donation would significantly enhance the university’s library holdings and improve access to quality academic resources for more than 20,000 students and academic staff.

Mr. Kimaryo noted that such contributions are essential in strengthening research capacity and encouraging intellectual exchange, particularly at a time when universities are increasingly expected to engage with global knowledge systems.
On his part, Mr. Deng Honglong, Deputy General Manager of CCCC Tanzania Branch, said the company views education as a cornerstone of long-term development. He explained that the China Bookshelf programme is designed not only to provide academic materials but also to foster mutual understanding and lasting friendship between the people of China and Tanzania.
He added that CCCC remains committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by supporting education, culture, and community development, alongside implementing major infrastructure projects across Tanzania.
The third-phase book donation highlights the growing cooperation between international companies and Tanzanian academic institutions, with stakeholders expressing optimism that such initiatives will continue to benefit future generations of scholars and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
