Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has temporarily suspended its flights between Dar es Salaam and Moscow, Russia, citing an assessment of operational risks along the route.
According to a statement issued by ATCL on September 3, 2026, flights TC422 and TC423 were suspended effective September 4, 2026. The airline said the decision was taken as part of its ongoing commitment to passenger safety and operational security.
ATCL said it regularly conducts risk assessments across its flight network and takes appropriate action whenever the findings indicate that a service should be temporarily suspended. The airline stressed that safety considerations take precedence over commercial interests.
Passengers holding tickets for the affected flights have been offered several options, including a full refund, rescheduling their journey to another date, or alternative travel arrangements at no additional cost.

The airline said it will continue monitoring the operating environment in cooperation with relevant authorities. ATCL added that the public will be informed once conditions have been assessed as suitable for the resumption of the service.
The Dar es Salaam–Moscow route was introduced as part of ATCL’s strategy to expand its international network and strengthen Tanzania’s connectivity with overseas markets, particularly Europe and Eurasia.
The service had become an important link for travellers between Tanzania and Russia and formed part of the airline’s broader efforts to expand international operations beyond Africa.
The temporary suspension leaves the future of the route dependent on further assessments of safety and operating conditions by ATCL and the relevant authorities.
ATCL has apologised to passengers for any inconvenience caused by the suspension and thanked its customers for their continued trust and support.
