Tanzania has assured citizens, businesses and international visitors that comprehensive security measures are in place ahead of the climax of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, as authorities seek to encourage strong public participation in one of East Africa’s largest trade exhibitions.

Speaking during a visit to the Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) pavilion at the exhibition grounds, Minister for Home Affairs Patrobas Katambi called on Tanzanians to attend the fair in large numbers and take advantage of the wide range of business, investment and networking opportunities on offer.

Katambi said security agencies remain fully prepared to safeguard visitors, exhibitors and businesses throughout the event, emphasizing that maintaining peace and public safety is a top government priority.

He said members of the public should participate in the exhibition with confidence, noting that the country’s defence and security institutions have put in place adequate measures to ensure the event proceeds in a peaceful and orderly environment.

“The security organs are fully prepared at all times to ensure Tanzanians continue to enjoy peace, safety and stability,” Katambi said.

The minister’s remarks come as the anniversary edition of the trade fair attracts thousands of exhibitors from Tanzania and abroad, alongside investors, diplomats and business leaders seeking to expand commercial partnerships and explore new investment opportunities.

The 50th edition of Sabasaba is widely regarded as a milestone in Tanzania’s trade and investment agenda, showcasing the country’s industrial progress while promoting regional and international commerce.

Authorities have heightened security around the exhibition grounds and across parts of Dar es Salaam as a precautionary measure, with officials maintaining that the deployment is intended to protect the public and ensure the smooth running of the event.

The government’s assurances also come amid heightened public attention following online calls for demonstrations, prompting officials to reiterate their commitment to preserving peace while allowing economic activities to continue uninterrupted.

For decades, the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair has served as one of East Africa’s leading platforms for trade promotion, innovation and business networking, attracting participants from across Africa and beyond.

As the exhibition approaches its grand finale, government officials say they expect strong attendance and are encouraging visitors to use the opportunity to explore new technologies, products, investment prospects and commercial partnerships that can contribute to Tanzania’s long-term economic growth.

The government has reiterated that ensuring a secure environment remains essential to the success of the event and to reinforcing Tanzania’s reputation as a stable destination for trade, investment and international business.
